Down in the woods we made Justin do some work before he could go to lunch. His first attempt at horse logging was a few months ago, or rather a training session. Needless to say I think John got the better of him that time. However this time it was for real, no training here, straight to work. I have to say,(and it chokes me to say it) he didn’t half do well moving the smaller timber with John.
As you can see John is not so tall and is built like a tank, another good point about using horses is that they can turn on a sixpence, the tractor and winch aren’t so maneuverable
At the end of the work (it’s all done except for getting the timber crane and trailer in to move the timber to Home farm) and after he had had some grub it was a good time to teach him about riding, as he had done four hours work he was less inclined to be jumpy. So I hopped on and rode him out for maybe half a mile

The horses really know how to get him to work, they have trained him well……am suddenly in mind off the song ..if you go to woods today you’ll be sure of a big supprise…Justin!
