These rural competitions at Wimpole have been set up to help people to improve their skills which they have learnt either at Wimpole or further afield. A further local hedge laying competition is held in October at Burwash manor. Two links below will direct you the the Hedge Laying Society and the Scything Association for Britain & Ireland.

On the scything weekend we also have a cider, beer, wine et al and spoon competition, the beverages have to be home made and will be judged on the Saturday late afternoon. The spoon competition is for those who make a spoon out of wood over the weekend and another one over the previous year, wood can be provided for the weekend. If anyone is up for it we can do a blacksmith competition were you make a rams head hook within an hour.
